1. Your Dog’s Favourite Treats

Treats are a must.
They help grab your dog’s attention, reward great behaviour, and create fun, spontaneous moments. Pick treats your dog truly loves — the stinkier the better!

Top tip: Avoid big meals right before the session. A slightly hungry dog = a more focused dog.

2. Toys They Can’t Resist

Does your dog go wild for a squeaky toy? Love a tug rope? Or perhaps they have a special teddy they never leave behind?

Bring a small selection of their favourites. Toys help us capture:

  • authentic, candid moments

And they’re brilliant for breaking the ice at the studio.

3. A Clean Lead and Collar

Even if your dog has perfect recall, a lead is essential — especially during outdoor shoots. It keeps them safe and secure.

If your current lead or collar is looking a little tired, consider giving it a wash or swapping it for a simple, clean one. Leads can often be edited out later, so don’t worry about them showing in the photos.

4. Grooming Bits & Bobs (Plus Timing Tips for Regular Groomers)

A light groom helps your dog look their best, but the timing can make a difference — especially for breeds who visit the groomer regularly.

If you love the tidy, freshly groomed look:
Try to book your photoshoot right after their grooming appointment.

If you prefer a fuller, natural coat:
Wait a week or two after grooming to let their coat settle and fluff out.

There’s no right or wrong here — it’s all about capturing your dog the way you love them most.
On the day, bring a brush or wipes for quick touch-ups, and avoid any big grooming changes right before the session.

Dogs get warm and excited during photoshoots, especially in the studio.

Please bring:

  • a water bottle

  • a travel bowl

  • poop bags

  • and any calming aids your dog might need

We take breaks as needed and work entirely at your dog’s pace.

8. Yourself (If You Want to Join In!)

So many owners say, “I’ll just stay behind the camera.”
But some of the most meaningful portraits are the ones showing the connection you share.

Whether you want:

  • a quick cuddle photo

  • a family portrait

  • or just your hands in the frame
