What you can expect from your pet photography session.

1. before your session

We’ll start with a friendly phone chat so I can get to know your pet’s personality and discuss what matters most to you. Once you’re happy, we’ll get your date in the diary.

2. during your session

This is where the fun begins! Sessions typically last 1–2 hours — plenty of time to work at your pet’s pace. Every dog (and cat!) is different — some need a little time to settle, others dive straight in — and that’s perfectly fine.

3. after your session

Once the magic is captured, I’ll carefully edit 20–25 of your best images. Within two weeks, we’ll meet again for a relaxed viewing and ordering session where you can choose your favourites and explore beautiful ways to display them — from wall art to keepsake boxes.

Got a Few Questions? You’re Not Alone!

Worried your dog won’t sit still?

That’s totally fine! I work with every kind of personality — from wiggly puppies to older dogs who’d rather nap than pose. Don’t worry – I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve, and your pet doesn’t need to be perfectly still; I only need a few seconds to capture their cuteness!

What if my pet gets nervous or anxious?

That’s absolutely fine — many pets feel a little unsure in new environments or around new people, and I always take that into account.

When you book your session, I’ll ask a few questions to get a feel for your dog’s temperament — whether they’re confident in new places or would be happier outside in the field where they can explore and do their own thing. This helps me plan the session in a way that keeps your dog relaxed and comfortable.

If your dog is a bit anxious, we’ll take everything at their pace. When they arrive at the studio, there’s no pressure for them to be friendly or pose straight away. They’re welcome to have a good sniff around and settle in while I give them plenty of space and time to feel safe.

You’ll do most of the handling to begin with, and we’ll use some yummy treats or their favourite toy to make the experience positive and fun. With patience and calm encouragement, most dogs quickly start to relax — and by the end of the session, they often surprise us by coming over for a little hello (especially once they’ve realised how tasty my treats are!).

Do I need to bring anything?

Before your session, here’s a simple checklist to help you feel prepared:

✔ Brush or wipes for quick touch-ups
✔ A cute bandana, bow tie, or stylish collar

Can I be in the photos too?

Absolutely! Family and sibling group photos are included in the session.

How much will this cost?

Great question — and don’t worry, I like to keep everything really simple and upfront.

Your pet photoshoot starts with a £49 session fee. This covers your consultation, the photoshoot itself (up to 2 hours), time for your pet to settle in, and a beautifully edited gallery of images for you to view afterwards. It also includes £30 credit towards anything you’d like to purchase.

After your session, you can choose whatever suits you best from my collections and products, which start from £149.
Most families usually invest somewhere between £199–£499, depending on whether they prefer digital images, prints, or something special for their wall.

There’s absolutely no pressure at all — you only buy the photos and artwork you genuinely love.

What if my pet is anxious, energetic, or untrained?

All personalities are welcome in my studio — from nervous rescues and bouncy puppies to beautifully stubborn cats. Every pet is different, and that’s part of the joy of what I do.

For overexcited or energetic animals
I turn the session into a gentle game of patience. We start by giving them a moment to settle, then use a mix of engaging sounds, interesting noises, and irresistible treats to bring their focus back to the camera. I often begin with them on a lead for everyone’s safety and comfort — and don’t worry, I can tidy that up in Photoshop afterwards so your final images look clean and natural.

For nervous or shy dogs
Everything is taken at their pace. I make sure they have plenty of space and never feel crowded. I don’t approach them straight away — instead, I let them come to me when they’re ready. I avoid direct eye contact at first, use calm body language, and build trust through gentle praise and positive reinforcement… plus a few tasty treats if they’re allowed.

The goal is always the same: to help your pet feel comfortable, confident, and completely themselves so we can capture their true personality.

Your dog isn’t “just a pet” — they’re a loyal companion, a daily joy-bringer, and a huge part of your family. Whether they greet you with a full-body wiggle, curl up for sofa cuddles, or make you laugh with their goofy antics, every moment you share becomes part of the story you’ll treasure forever.

A professional photoshoot gives you the chance to press pause for a moment and capture the true personality of the dog you love — the playful spark, the softness, the connection you share.

Most dog photos live on our phones, but the ones that include you are often the most meaningful. During your session, we’ll create a mix of portraits, action shots, candid moments, and family images that feel natural and true to who your dog is.

After more than 30 years of living with, training, and loving dogs of all personalities, I understand how unique each one is. From sensitive souls to bouncy whirlwinds, confident pups to nervous rescues — I’ve worked with them all.

My own Labrador, Gus, has been my greatest teacher; his larger-than-life energy (and the handful he can be!) has made me a more patient, intuitive photographer. Between him, my spaniels, and the many dogs I’ve trained and shown over the years, I’ve learned how to read body language, build confidence, and create a calm, positive space for every dog.

This experience is at the heart of every session. We go at your dog’s pace, always with kindness, understanding, and plenty of encouragement.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pet Photography

How does a pet session work?

I understand that scheduling your first photoshoot, especially with your dog, can be intimidating. But there's no need to worry! I prioritize customer service and will guide you through the process, making it enjoyable and stress-free. It's my responsibility, after all! How do I know if you're the right photographer for me?

I get it. Finding the right photographer you can trust can be tricky. I like to research before giving anyone my business, too! Look at my gallery to see if my photography style speaks to you. And don't just take my word for it - check out what my past clients say about working with me. If you've any questions, don't hesitate to call me. I'm always here for a chat.

Is it possible to bring more than one animal?

Absolutely! The session fee will cover up to three pets, and there is only a small additional fee of £10 per pet after that.

What happens if my dog gets ill before the session?

If that happens, the best thing to do is to reschedule the session to a later date.

What happens if my pet gets stage fright?

Before booking a session, we would have chatted about what type of session would suit your pet's personality best, and by doing so, we should have a very happy dog on the session day.

If, for some reason, the dog doesn't get on with the studio light flashing or finds the studio environment stressful, I suggest we stop the photoshoot and reschedule for an outside session where I'll use natural light. I'll have the option to stand further back with a longer lens.

The same goes for location sessions; if the location is too distracting for the dog, it may be best to reschedule to a studio session with a calmer atmosphere.

Should I groom my dog before the session?

If you want your pet to look their best, you can bathe them or take them to the groomer a few days before the photo shoot. This will give their coats time to settle. For long-haired breeds, it's also helpful to trim or tie back the fur around their eyes so that we can capture their beautiful eyes.

Can I just have my pet photographed?

Yes, certainly! We can focus on your pet and capture their unique personality.

What if my pet has an accident in the studio?

Please don't worry if your pet has an accident in the studio - it happens sometimes, especially with young puppies or very excited dogs. Everything in the studio is designed to be easy to clean or wash, so it's no problem if it happens.

How long does the shoot last?

Generally, the photo shoot will last between 1 and 2 hours. This gives us plenty of time to work at your pet's pace, allowing them to calm down or gain confidence as needed.

Do I need to bring props, or do you provide them?

My studio has a variety of props available for use, but I always prioritize your pet's comfort and happiness. If there's a prop that your pet doesn't like or isn't comfortable with, we won't use it.

What happens if the weather is not favourable?

Before an outdoor session, we will monitor the weather a few days in advance. If the forecast predicts heavy rain or a heatwave, we will reschedule the session to another day or possibly change the time of the shoot.

Weather is not an issue for studio sessions as they are held indoors.

Is there a limit on the number of spectators?

While there isn't a strict limit, the studio is small and can become crowded quickly. To ensure your pet's success and comfort, it's best to limit the number of spectators; too many people can be a distraction.

Can my dog stay on the lead?

Of course! Keeping your dog on a lead can be the best way to keep them safe, especially outside. In the studio, it can also help calm your pet down and make them more comfortable. When taking photos, I'll show you how to hold the lead so that it's easy to remove in Photoshop.

What happens after my studio session?

After your photo shoot, I'll pick out 20 - 25 of your best images and edit them. I believe in quality over quantity. Within 14 days of your session, I will book a personal ordering session. We'll review your photos, and you can see the beautiful print product options that are available. This is where you place your order and pay for the images and products you purchase.
Digital packages start at £399, and Wall art collections start at £649.

How long will it take to get my order?

On average, it takes 2-4 weeks for the order to be ready after your ordering appointment. Once your order is prepared, we can arrange a suitable date for you to come and collect your products.

The only thing left to do is enjoy your photos for years to come.
